• Pallor, fatigue, and difficulty breathing due to anemia (decrease in red blood cells)
  • The clinical manifestations are often unspecific and are constitutional in nature, such as fever, night sweating, weight loss, and reduced appetite.
  • Bone pain in the limbs and joints.
  • Increase size of the spleen and lymph-node enlargement.
  • Appearance of hematomas (due to a decrease in platelets in the blood, also known as thrombocytopenia) and petechiae.
  • 5-8% of adults with the disease have central nervous system involvement, causing clinical symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, and pain.
