CLL staging. Binet staging system
Binet stage A: The patient has fewer than 3 areas of lymph-node involvement but no anemia or thombocytopenia.
Binet stage B: The patient has 3 or more areas of lymph-node involvement but no anemia or thombocytopenia.
Binet stage C: Presence of anemia and/or thrombocytopenia.
Both staging systems are used to define 3 groups of disease risk, determining the probability of survival:
- Low riskà Rai stage 0 or Binet stage A
- Intermediate risk à Rai stage I-II or Binet stage B
- High risk à Rai stage III and IV or Binet stage C
